⌘+ is a keyboard shortcut used to zoom in on a computer screen. The action of 'zooming in' is an important part of the show, as viewers use provided magnifying glasses to get a closer look at miniature oil paintings on microchips. 'Zoom' also references the artist's experiences of a rapidly evolving world and ever-accelerating pace of life.
As well as painting on their guts, Zupancic uses computers and digital cameras to create glitched-out video paintings. These looped permutations of the natural world have no narrative and exude a meditative ambiance in spite of glitchy patterns which usually signal only malfunction.
An installation work consisting of dozens of blinking alarm clocks further mixes electronic chaos with natural beauty. 'Feral Clock Flicker' is inspired by firefly mating signals. There's a hypnotic quality to these flickering numbers which nods to the unknown future of human gadgetry as it takes on a life of its own.
Born in 1980 and active since 2001, Zupancic has exhibited in seven countries and been featured in such publications as Huffington Post, WIRED, Juxtapoz, and London Times.
