New Paintings by Ernest Wedoff
Magnum Opus is the culmination of an extended investigation into the
nature of color, depth, and perspective and the refinement of a
process for addressing these relationships. It is the follow-up to
Ernest Wedoff’s Linear Fashion, and continues to explore themes of
optics and transmission in the digital age. While retaining a similar
aesthetic, the work achieves a new level of complexity. Employing the
use of shadow boxes with layers of plexiglass and vinyl, the new work
shifts in relationship to the viewer, suggesting a specific viewing
angle, but also allowing the possibility of different experiences
within a single piece.
Ernest Wedoff received a BFA in studio painting from the Kansas City
Art Institute in 2007, and considers himself to be very much a product
of the institution. Since his graduation he has had a number of shows
in Kansas City and Chicago, and though his process and subject have
evolved, his attitude towards creating art, the constant sense of
exploration, will always be tied to his experience as a student at the
Kansas City Art Institute.
The opening reception is October 7, 2011 from 6-10 pm. The show runs through October 28.
After October 7, contact Paula Rose to view by appointment: [email protected].
