iPhoneography Series
by:
Chad Cogdill
Based out of downtown Kansas City, MO, Chad has been experimenting with the various outlets that the photographic medium embodies. Cogdill's process ranges anywhere from a more traditional process of shooting digitally and editing with computer software to a newer, controversial method of shooting and editing strictly with iPhone applications; whichever best suits the project. There are many photographers who dismiss this particular method of, what Cogdill calls, iPhoneography. As always there are also many emerging and established photographers who have embraced this movement and pushed it to the level of fine art. Take the opportunity this month to see for yourselves a new path in digital photography that is being laid by our ever-evolving technology and fast-paced, on-the-go culture. Cogdill is one of the first of this breed to lead the way and show this genre of photography in the Kansas City area.
"Walking the streets of Kansas City over the last few years I have found a powerful connection to the city, and photography has been the most direct and creative way for me to share my perspective as I explore the city. I primarily shoot with full-frame DSLRs and a wide assortment of lenses, but in this exhibition I am showing photos from my 'iPhoneography' series. The iPhone is a powerful tool and it allows me step outside of the standard rules of photography. It combines my love of technology and art into a simple device for a minimalistic style of photography that still conveys a dynamic perspective. Photos in my 'iPhoneography' series are both shot and edited on my iPhone."
